    That is really cool! After a few years of using the metal x, fx20, and the x7's, I think it is really cool that all of them are combined into this one printer. I really appreciate the heated buildplate and high temp nozzles, as well as the ability to print in metals with a simple changeout. I wasn't ever a fan of having a dozen printers that were partially used because we didn't have metal prints, or we didn't have polymer prints. I'm happy to see such efficiency with an all in one printer. Can't wait to see some reviews of this printer, and to start seeing real world parts coming from it.

    With the CAD design cost being about the same for a machined part vs a 3-D printed part, the cost to the end user is dramatic. A couple thousand dollars each vs a couple hundred dollars each. Note also that a metal part can also be a bit harsh on clamping soft products being packaged.

    Some of the videos iv seen of this printer were making the same sounds and a cheap Ender 3, how is it that a printer that cost multiple thousands of dollars won’t put silent steper drivers. Is there something I’m missing? Was the video I saw a printer in need of maintenance? Or is there a reason for using the silent chips?

    • @jqielab767
      @jqielab767 2 місяці тому

      Hi, @senurasenaratne5782. Yes the stepper motors are the same of any other printer and they are noisy like any other printer. When I close the lid of the printer the noise is barely noticeable, however. The XY movement is way different from the Ender3 and more similar to the CoreXY frame by Core3D. No motor is moving alongside the printer head, reducing inertia therefore allowing for higher acceleration and more precise movement. I use a Onyx Pro Printer in the past 3 years and it is truly set or forget. Markforged printers are not for everyone, but if you have a shop with a lot of users with different levels of expertise in 3D printing with these printers you will have a consistent and very good printing quality. (This is by my personal experience)

      @@jqielab767 true but a printer like the prusa xl (core xy) even without a enclosure is dead silent. im sure the markforged brand and the product is great but my point still stands. they used cheap drivers

    • @jqielab767
      @jqielab767 2 місяці тому

      @@senurasenaratne5782 I haven't really thought about the noise factor in 3D printers, but yours is a good point. Drivers have come so far these days with micro stepping, torque sensing etc... In my lab noise is not a big issue, since the air circulation system is the dominant source of noise, but if you place the printer in an office or a home having a silent printer is important.

    This demonstrated some pretty poor adherence to best practices. You've orientated the layers exactly parallel to the applied force during operation, drastically decreasing the strength of the part unless you can guarantee 100% sintering (you can't). Appropriate orientation would see these parts either flat or on edge, to ensure force application is perpendicular to the layers and reduce delamination risk.

    • @markforged
      @markforged 2 місяці тому

      Thanks for your comment, Erin. The orientation was altered for filming. The grippers that you see being printed are not the same grippers that were used for actual production, Lean Machine printed those grippers in the appropriate orientation.
